Half Moon Bay in November: a short coast walk is enough
Start at Francis Beach and leave time for sunset and the return
Want some company?Start an outing with this article’s coverHalf Moon Bay State Beach in 2014. Check park notices for beach access and current conditions.
Plan a coastal half-day beyond pumpkin-festival season. Distinguish beach and trail dog rules, shorten the route as daylight fades, and check parking and sea conditions.
Choose the trail without planning a swim
The park currently lists 8 AM–sunset hours. Coastside Trail connects beach access areas along their eastern edge. Dogs need a leash of no more than six feet on the trail and cannot enter the beach. Check parking charges and works notices.
Editorial suggestion: skip the full-distance goal
- Navigate to Francis Beach at 95 Kelly Avenue, read entrance notices and then choose your direction.
- Leave time for both walking and sitting. Bring a windproof layer and shorten the outing if conditions worsen.
- Plan to return while it is still light in November. Choose one convenient meal stop rather than several beaches.
Confirm dates and transport before adding a timed event.
