Plan your October weekends: one Bay Area region at a time
Five date groups and flexible half-day plans covering October 1–31

Build a relaxed October around South Bay history, East Bay nature, coastal pumpkin season, and a North Bay Chinese fishing village. Pick one main destination each week and plan transit, indoor alternatives, and the trip home.
October has four full weekends plus a final Saturday. Schedule the places you most want to visit, then leave room for lunch, children’s breaks, and getting home. These are suggested date combinations, not venue packages or promises of special events.
October 1–2: sort out passes and company
On Thursday or Friday, spend ten minutes checking local library passes and choose an indoor alternative. Specify an exact meeting entrance and a latest finish time. A venue appearing in the library system does not mean passes remain for your date; secure the required reservation before planning travel.
- October 3–4 | South Bay: spend about two hours on a weekend afternoon exploring History Park’s buildings and streets. Families preferring a playground can choose Emma Prusch, after reading the Small Animal Area closure notice.
- October 10–11 | East Bay: explore the farm and education center at Tilden Nature Area, with a short walk you can turn back from. Avoid packing the train, carousel, and nature area into one morning.
- October 17–18 | Decide whether you want the Pumpkin Festival: give Half Moon Bay its own day if you do. If you prefer a quiet coast visit or pumpkin shopping, choose another date with confirmed farm hours.
- October 24–25 | North Bay: visit China Camp’s Chinese shrimping village and bay. The village and a picnic make a complete outing; add a short trail only if you have energy.
- October 31 | Stay in your own city: choose a confirmed indoor option during the day. For evening Halloween events, check age limits, session times, and reservations separately. November events are outside this month’s plan.
Build each day around one main destination
Plan the entire door-to-door trip rather than just the drive between cities. Include bridge tolls, parking, the final bus connection, and any early arrival requirement. If friends live on opposite sides of the bay, choose a meeting point both can reach.
Filter confirmed events by date and region, then pair them with this weekend plan.
