Sunset Dunes runs between Lincoln Way and Sloat Boulevard, with public art, recreation spaces, and ocean-view seating listed by the city. A temporary restroom is at Noriega. Treat the ocean as a backdrop for a relaxed walk; the two-mile length is not a required route, and performances are not guaranteed every day in October.

Editorial plan: a flexible 90-minute afternoon

  • Meet where Noriega Street reaches the oceanfront park. Find the restroom and return route before choosing north or south.
  • Pause after 20–30 minutes to choose a favorite artwork or watch the ocean from a seat. With children, separate active riding from quiet observation.
  • Leave a buffer before returning to the starting point. For sunset, check that day's time and return transport; choose a meal stop along the way home.
October preparation: let the wind guide your visit

Bring a windproof layer and water. Share the route with cyclists and keep photo stops out of the through path. Dunes and the beach are not shortcuts. Check current access and registration for new facilities or community classes.
