What this guide helps you understand

Spend half a day exploring Sonoma State Historic Park's layered local history. Check admission and locations: the historic buildings are separate sites, not one enclosed park.

The state historic park comprises multiple sites around Sonoma Plaza, including Mission San Francisco Solano, Sonoma Barracks, and General Vallejo's home. Regular hours are daily 10 am–5 pm. At this check, museum admission is $3 for adults, $2 for ages 6–17, and free for ages 5 and under; special arrangements may differ.

Editorial plan: spend time with two nearby sites

  • Start on East Spain Street, confirm entrances and open sites, and visit the Mission. Notice different communities' experiences as well as the architecture.
  • Continue around the Barracks, then pause for food near the Plaza. Note questions you would like to explore afterward.
  • For Vallejo's home, check the official map and time remaining. If children are tired, finish without trying to cover every separate site.
Confirm regular admission, October events, and distant sites separately

Check each October event page for reservations and different hours. Petaluma Adobe is in a different city; a ticket connection does not make it a stop on a Plaza walking route.
