Free digital help in San José: device loans ended, but classes and Tech Hubs remain
Check internet access, digital lessons and device lending separately
Grocery shopping, learning and caring for your home: build a daily rhythm. A community-life illustration, not a depiction of a specific event.
SJPL ended SJ Access device lending in March. Find current Wi-Fi, digital classes and community Tech Hubs, with practical pointers for newcomers and older residents.
Update one common outdated tip
SJ Access device lending and new device holds ended on March 25, 2026. Older guides suggesting you borrow a computer to take home from SJPL are outdated. Return previously borrowed equipment with its charging cables by the due date in your account, and ask your branch about any issues.
Choose the right starting point
- Internet access: use the SJ Access Wi-Fi page to find library or listed community coverage; it does not promise a signal on every street.
- Phone, email or computer basics: check classes and technical-help sessions for language, registration and timing.
- In-person support: community-run Tech Hubs offer computer spaces, classes and digital support. Services and bilingual staffing vary by site; help accessing devices is not a promise of a free device.
Use the official directory to choose a service location before travelling.
