What this guide helps you understand

Choose published October and November markets, stargazing, toddler storytime and exhibitions in the North Bay. Distinguish free programs from parking charges, adult-only sessions and separate museum campuses before adding a nearby walk.

The North Bay is large. Choose one area—Marin, Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley or Solano—instead of packing several counties into a day. Start with one published activity, then add a local walk if weather and energy allow. These are not timed navigation routes; specific travel times have not been checked.

For produce and something to eat: choose one Saturday market

  • Healdsburg: Oct 10, 17, 24, 31 and Nov 7, 14, 8:30 am–noon. The new venue is Foley Family Community Pavilion at 3 North Street; the Tuesday season has ended. Shop and explore downtown without adding another cross-county event.
  • Sonoma Garden Park: the same six Saturdays, 9 am–1 pm, at 19996 7th Street East. Bring bags and expect harvest-dependent stock. This is not a Sonoma Plaza market; the addresses are different.
  • Food is purchased from vendors at both markets. The official pages do not list a separate admission charge; neither is a free-food offer.

For nature: choose a daytime talk or an evening star party

  • On Nov 8, Sugarloaf offers a colors, patterns and animal-signals talk outside the visitor center, 12:30–3:30 pm. Drop in during the session. The program is free with separate parking charges; it is a tabletop talk, not a mandatory three-hour hike.
  • The Nov 7 public star party runs 7–10 pm, with event tickets plus $10 parking per vehicle. Buy tickets and bring warm layers. Clouds affect viewing. Sips and Stars on Nov 13 is for ages 21+ and cannot substitute for a family star party.

For less favorable weather: toddler storytime and indoor art

  • Fairfax Library lists Spanish–English storytime for ages 0–5 on Nov 3 and 10. The 10:15 series lists an 11:45 end and also describes a 9:30 session. Attend only one and check that day’s listing; the full time block is not a promise of continuous performance.
  • Eames & Eames opens Oct 17 at The MAC, 607 St Helena Highway, with regular daily hours of 10 am–5 pm. General tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for ages 6–17 and free for ages 5 and under; check holidays and opening events separately. This is not the Yountville museum.
  • On Nov 15, Jack London Park’s author event discusses The Second Mrs. London from 2–3:30 pm; reserve ahead. There is no extra event fee, but entry costs $15 per vehicle. The second floor has stairs-only access; contact the park if step-free access is needed.

Solano fall walks: check access rules first

Dixon’s Lambtown and Rio Vista’s Bass Derby ended Oct 4. Consider the designated self-guided area at Jepson Prairie or Rio Vista’s riverfront afterward, but do not transfer spring vernal-pool bloom expectations to fall. Sandy Beach is not a swimming destination: swimming is prohibited and day-use construction or boat-ramp restrictions may change.
