The Visitor Education Center is at 1414 Harbour Way South, Suite 3000, with regular daily hours of 10 am–5 pm and free admission and parking listed by NPS. Exhibits and films explore factory work, family, and community life. A first visit need not cover every historic site in Richmond.

Editorial plan: start with a person's story, then a city's

  • Allow about an hour for exhibits. Choose a person or everyday object and discuss how wartime changed work, migration, and family roles.
  • Check film times on arrival and choose one suited to your group. With children, ask about running time before committing.
  • If the weather suits, take a short walk in the open waterfront area outside, then return to the same parking point. On a rainy day, the center alone is enough.
Free center admission does not cover every nearby attraction

SS Red Oak Victory is managed separately; check its hours, admission, and boarding requirements. Consult the calendar for docent or firsthand-history programs instead of assuming a particular guest will appear on a Friday.
