IlluminOdyssey at CuriOdyssey turns 10: hands-on science of light

Refraction, glow, light painting and shadow dancing

CuriOdyssey, the science museum and zoo at Coyote Point in San Mateo, marks ten years of IlluminOdyssey: its four-level Redwood Hall becomes a glowing forest of science with 10 new exhibits — a maze of luminous geometry, rainbow refraction and swirling projections, painting with light on phosphorescent walls and dancing with your shadow — exploring fluorescence, color mixing and light waves.

Before you go

  • The hall is dark with many light and sound effects; check the museum’s social story if your child is sensitive to light or sound.

  • The museum closes early, at 3pm, on Dec 24 and Dec 31.
