The Safeway Holiday Ice Rink in the middle of Union Square, near Geary and Powell, is open every day from Nov 4 to Jan 18, 2027: 60-minute sessions start every 90 minutes from 10am to 11pm, closing at 9:30pm on Dec 31.

Before you go

Beginners 48 inches tall or shorter can rent a polar-bear Skate Helper for $6 while they last.
If rain stops a session, the ticket is good for any open session on or before Jan 18; rebooking is online only.
Muni or BART to Powell Street is easiest; restrooms are in the Union Square garage, and skates cannot be worn off the ice.
