Over a million lights and light-up playgrounds

This year’s ZooLights at the San Francisco Zoo runs Nov 6 to Jan 3, 2027, on Wednesday to Sunday evenings: 14 zones and over a million lights, with glowing 3D animals, a “frozen” photo zone, light-up playgrounds and the extended Dinos Rule! exhibit lit at night; Santa visits in December.

Before you go

ZooLights needs its own evening ticket (a daytime zoo ticket does not cover it); tickets are not date-specific and are good for one visit on any night of the run.
The zoo lists Wednesday to Sunday evenings, closed Mondays and Tuesdays, but says nothing about Dec 24–25: check before going on those days.
